Truck Capacity

See whether your estimated load is comfortably within a truck's capacity before moving day.
Truck Capacity turns your estimated volume into a clear side-by-side comparison with common truck sizes, helping you spot a tight fit early and plan with confidence.
A little room to spare is valuable. Use the built-in safety buffer to consider a larger truck, a second trip, or a more complete inventory before moving day.
Plan The Truck Before Moving Day
One of the best ways to avoid a moving-day surprise is to compare your estimated load with the truck before the move begins. The Truck Capacity sheet places Your Load beside common truck capacities so you can see whether the plan has room to spare or may be getting tight.
Use the comparison early, while there is still time to choose a larger truck, plan a second trip, improve the inventory, or discuss the load with your mover.
See Your Load Against Common Truck Sizes

- Blue – Your Load: the move volume estimated from the information entered in MoverCalcs, including Total Item Volume when the Room Sheets inventory is being used.
- Orange – Truck Capacity: the planning capacity used for each common truck size, with a safety buffer built in.
- When the blue bar stays comfortably below the orange bar, the estimated load appears to be within that truck’s planning capacity.
- When the blue bar approaches or passes the orange bar, treat it as an early warning to review the inventory or make a different truck plan.
Why The Safety Buffer Matters
Furniture and moving boxes do not always fill a truck perfectly. Item shapes, loading order, fragile pieces, equipment, and unused spaces can all affect how much fits. The built-in safety buffer helps keep the comparison practical instead of treating every cubic foot as perfectly usable.
Get A Better Comparison
The chart becomes more useful as the estimate improves:
- Start with the volume available from Quick Estimates.
- Add room-by-room inventory on Room Sheets and correct item counts when possible.
- Review Room Summary, then return to Truck Capacity and compare the updated load with available truck sizes.
- If the fit looks close, review missing or unusual items and plan the next step before moving day.
Truck Capacity is a planning guide, not a guarantee that every item will fit in a specific truck. Actual truck interiors and real-world loading conditions vary, but an early comparison gives you more time and better options.
