Payroll

Review labor and direct-cost planning separately from the customer bill.
Payroll pulls revenue context from Billing and compares it with worker pay, supplies costs, fuel, truck costs, and gross-profit outputs.
Use Payroll for workbook cost planning, not payroll tax processing.
Payroll helps review labor cost, direct job cost, and gross-profit planning inside the workbook. It is separate from Billing: Billing estimates what may be charged, while Payroll estimates cost and profit from the job inputs.
What This Sheet Is For
Use Payroll after Billing has a reasonable estimated bill. The sheet pulls revenue context from Billing, subtracts pass-through tax amounts where applicable, and compares the remaining profit revenue with direct job costs.
Payroll is a workbook planning sheet. It is not a payroll-tax system, legal payroll record, or accounting ledger.
How To Read This Sheet
Read Payroll from top to bottom. The first rows show revenue, tax, direct cost, gross profit dollars, and gross profit percent. The next sections collect mover pay, packing cost, supplies cost, fuel cost, and truck cost inputs. Internal calculation rows show how the workbook assembles the visible results.
Main Results
Use the top result rows to review the job-level picture:
- Estimated Bill Dollars From Billing brings in the Billing estimate.
- Gross Profit In Dollars is the main profit result.
- Gross Profit Percent compares gross profit with profit revenue.
- Profit Revenue Dollars removes pass-through tax from Billing revenue.
- Total Direct Cost Dollars adds labor, packing, supplies, fuel, rental truck, and maintenance costs.
These rows make Payroll useful after Billing has enough pricing detail.
Movers
Use Movers to enter worker hours, hourly rates, and tips for the lead mover and optional movers. The sheet compares assigned mover hours with the mover hours from Billing and compares Payroll tips with the Billing tip amount.
This section is for cost planning inside the workbook. It does not decide how a business should manage staff or process payroll.
Packing Costs And Supplies Costs
Use Packing Costs for direct packing labor and packing supplies cost. Use Supplies Costs for general non-packing supplies cost.
Keeping these rows separate makes it easier to compare materials and labor costs against Billing charge assumptions.
Fuel Cost
Use Fuel Cost In Dollars to choose either a manual fuel cost or a calculated fuel cost. The calculated path uses total truck miles, miles per gallon, and fuel price per gallon.
Use the manual path when the cost is already known. Use the calculated path when the workbook needs an estimate from mileage and fuel assumptions.
Truck Costs
Use Truck Costs for rental truck total and moving truck maintenance. The maintenance path can use miles-based maintenance or a standard maintenance amount.
These rows keep truck-related direct costs visible in the gross-profit review.
Internal Calculations
Use Internal Calculations only when the result needs inspection. These rows show worker pay support formulas, assigned hours, tips, direct cost totals, tax handling, profit revenue, and gross-profit calculations.
Most users can focus on the visible input and result rows above this section.
