Packing

Sealing a moving box with a tape gun

Use the Packing section on each Room Sheet to track what still needs boxing and what is already packed.

Needs To Be Packed, Already Packed, and Articles To Be Moved work together so the room stays covered at every stage of packing.

Needs To Be Packed, Already Packed, and Articles To Be Moved work together so the room stays covered at every stage of packing.

Packing lives on each Room Sheet. Scroll past the room totals, notes, and handling fields to the packing block. It has three parts that work together: what still needs boxing, what is already packed, and the furniture articles for that room.

On a phone, packing is easy to update room by room. Enter linear feet and drawer space for what still needs boxing, then count boxes that are already packed. Non-zero values highlight in yellow so you can see progress at a glance.

How The Packing Section Works

Read the packing block top to bottom.

  1. Needs To Be Packed — measure what is still loose in the room.
  2. Already Packed — count boxes and bags that are finished.
  3. Articles To Be Moved — list furniture and other inventory items for the room (the same item rows used for volume and crew planning).

As packing progresses, numbers naturally move from Needs To Be Packed into Already Packed. The room stays covered either way—before, during, and after boxing.

Needs To Be Packed

Use this section when items are still on shelves, in drawers, hanging, or in bookcases. Enter measures so the workbook can estimate boxes and materials instead of guessing from total volume alone.

Typical rows include:

  • Drawer Space CuFt — drawer volume still to pack
  • Linear Feet of Hanging Clothes
  • Linear Feet of Shelving — shallow and deep
  • Linear Feet of Books — small, medium, and large
  • Linear Feet of Files

More detail here means a clearer box and material plan on the Supplies sheet and better packing labor signals in the estimate.

Already Packed

Count what is already in boxes or bags so packed inventory is not left out of the plan.

Typical rows include:

  • Small, Medium, Medium Double Walled, Large, Large Double Walled, XL, and Tall Boxes
  • Wardrobe Boxes, Soft Pack Bags, Book Boxes, and File Boxes

Yellow quantity fields show where you have entered counts above zero. Use plus and minus on a phone for quick one-handed updates.

Articles To Be Moved

Below the packing measures, each Room Sheet lists Articles To Be Moved—the furniture and other items for that room. Those rows drive room volume, handling, and crew notes. They sit with packing so you can inventory the room in one pass: loose contents, packed boxes, and larger articles together.

For standard names and sizes, use the Master Inventory List.

Packing Versus The Supplies Sheet

| Area | What it does | | — | — | | Packing (on Room Sheets) | Room-level measures of what still needs boxing and what is already packed | | Supplies | Whole-move material plan and supply review from volume and room detail |

Enter packing on the rooms first. Then open Supplies to review the material picture across the move.
